Rabat – FC Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has been ruled out for up to four weeks following an ankle injury he got during the team’s unexpected 1-0 loss to CD Leganés on Sunday.
The setback leaves the Catalan side without one of their key attacking options at a critical point in the season.
Yamal was substituted in the final stages of the game after a challenge left him visibly in pain and unable to continue. Barcelona confirmed the injury through an official statement on Monday, shedding light on the extent of the damage.
“The first team player Lamine Yamal received a blow to the right ankle during the game against CD Leganés on Sunday. Tests carried out on Monday have revealed that the player has a grade 1 injury to a ligament in the ankle. The player is expected to be out for 3 to 4 weeks,” read the club’s announcement on X.
Yamal’s absence will be particularly felt in the upcoming showdown against Atlético Madrid, a match many consider crucial.
The right winger has been a breakout star this season, dazzling fans with his skill and maturity beyond his years. His absence now poses a tactical challenge for coach Hansi Flick, who will need to reshuffle his lineup to compensate for the loss of the young talent.
As Barcelona seeks to regain momentum following the Leganés defeat, all eyes will be on Yamal’s recovery. For now, the focus shifts to how the team adapts without one of its most promising players on the pitch.
