Rabat — Police in Morocco have arrested two suspected fraudsters accused of tricking hopeful migrants in a cruel immigration scam.  The arrests took place yesterday in Ouarzazate, with help from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance and the Royal Gendarmerie (DGSN).

Authorities say the suspects promised six victims a way to Europe through fake work contracts. The victims handed over large sums of cash in advance, only to find out it was all a fraud.

“They were lured by false dreams and promises,” a police source revealed.

The suspects were tracked down in a rural area near Kalaat M’Gouna. During the raid, officers seized a passport, fake IDs, an academic diploma, and money transfer receipts.

“These receipts are likely linked to the criminal activity,” said the source.

The pair are now in custody as investigators dig deeper into the scam.

Authorities hope to uncover all the details and stop others from falling prey to such schemes.

Heartless criminals in Morocco are preying on desperate people trying to build a better life abroad. These scammers promise jobs and visas but leave their victims penniless and heart-wretched.

Just last year, police in Tangier busted a gang of ten fraudsters. They duped migrants into paying big money for fake work contracts. But when the victims showed up for their visas, they were turned away and left with nothing but empty pockets.

And it’s not just Tangier. Across Morocco, young people dreaming of jobs in places like Germany are being scammed. They hand over their life savings for fake documents, only to face rejection – and sometimes even get blacklisted from travelling in the future.

The U.S. Embassy in Morocco is also warning people to beware. Scammers pretend to be linked to the American government, offering fake jobs and asking for cash.

“Don’t fall for it,” say officials. “Always check if a job offer is real before you pay a penny.”

Authorities are urging everyone to stay vigilant and avoid falling victim to these cold-blooded scammers.
