Rabat – Air Arabia has launched its new direct air route linking Rabat and Oujda.

Starting January 9, the MENA leading low-cost airline company now provides three flights on  Tuesday, Thursday, and Monday.

On Tuesdays, the flight is scheduled for the morning and will take off from Oujda at 7:00 a.m. Moroccan time and land in Rabat at 8:05 a.m., while the return flight will take off at 8:45 a.m. from Rabat and land in Oujda at 9:50 a.m.

Taking off from Rabat at 2:15 p.m., Thursday’s flight will land in Oujda at 3:25 p.m., while the return flight will take off at 4:05 p.m. and land in Morocco’s capital at 5:10 p.m.

On Sunday, the flight is scheduled to take off from Rabat at 12:40 p.m. and land in Oujda at 1:50 p.m., while the return flight will take off at 2:25 p.m. from the northeastern city and land in Rabat at 3:30 p.m.

The new air route will ease travelers’ mobility between the two cities in a reduced travel time over a 521.7 kilometer distance –  a journey that would usually take over five hours by car, but just over one by plane.

Starting tickets prices begin at MAD 350 ($ 34.81) to allow a larger number of passengers to discover this opportunity.

Air Arabia’s first flight’s landing at Oujda-Angads airport was inaugurated with a ceremony marking  this new air route.

A statement from the company said that launching this new route reflects “the weight of this new link both for passengers and economic stakeholders in both regions.”

Citing both cities’ draws, including Rabat’s cosmopolitan experience and historical heritage as well as Oujda’s varied landscapes, medina, and traditional markets, the company said the new line will boost economic cooperation between the two cities.

The new flight is designated to “open new economic opportunities for both business travelers and tourists,” the statement noted, adding that it will “enhance economic and cultural ties between the two regions.”

Morocco has recently been working on diversifying direct flights between its 12 regions, reflecting its commitment to boosting the economy and tourism activity in the country.
