Moroccan international football player Hakim Ziyech has officially joined Qatari club Al Duhail.
The club announced the news today, stressing that its “management succeeded in obtaining the signature of the Moroccan international player Hakim Ziyech in order to join the first football team.”
It noted its satisfaction with the player’s decision to turn down other offers, arguing that Ziyech is a “strong addition” to the team’s offensive line. The statement recalled the Moroccan player’s stellar experience at world-leading clubs (notably Chelsea and Ajax Amsterdam) and his impressive performances during Morocco’s fairy-tale participation in the 2022 World Cup.
“The Club Management welcomes the veteran Moroccan lion, Hakim Ziyech, to the ranks of the Tornado and wishes him a wonderful career full of achievements with the team, God willing,” Al Duhail concluded.
Ziyech had tough experiences with his former clubs, particularly Galatasaray and Chelsea. The Atlas Lion faced the challenges of being benched with Chelsea and also spoke of experiencing personal issues with the Turkish club’s coach.
Galatasaray announced his departure on Tuesday, thanking him for his efforts and contributions. According to journalist Haluk Yurekli, Ziyech said the Turkish club “is over” for him.
The journalist quoted Ziyech, saying the football player described Galatasaray’s coach as a “low-level” manager. Ziyech made headlines with Morocco during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar when the Atlas Lions reached the semifinals.
Morocco became the first Arab and African country to reach this stage of the tournament. Ziyech also played some spectacular games with Morocco during the previous AFCON.
The Atlas Lion, however, missed Morocco’s latest qualifier games. After criticism, Morocco’s head coach Walid Regragui said there is no controversy regarding his non-call-up. “There is no problem with him,” he said.
