Rabat – The Moroccan national football team began its first training session today, launching intense preparations for their 2026 FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash against Canada.
The highly anticipated match will take place this Saturday at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, with kickoff set for 6:00 PM Moroccan time.
The training session featured a fully fit squad, including defender Chadi Riad, who has recovered from a minor injury that sidelined him from the previous match against the Netherlands.
Head coach Mohamed Ouahbi had previously downplayed the injury after Morocco clinched their Round of 16 spot, and Riad’s quick return to the pitch gives the team a major boost ahead of the knockout stage.
The coaching staff enjoyed the luxury of a fully healthy roster during the session, with all players participating in the drills.
This zero-injury status means Morocco heads into the crucial knockout match with total tactical flexibility and their strongest possible lineup ready to go.
Morocco booked their ticket to the Round of 16 following a thrilling penalty shootout victory against the Netherlands in the previous round. After battling to a 1-1 draw through extra time, the Atlas Lions kept their cool under pressure to edge out the Dutch 3-2 on penalties.
This knockout triumph keeps Morocco completely undefeated in the tournament, building on an impressive group stage run where they held heavyweight Brazil to a 1-1 draw, shut out Scotland 1-0, and dominated Haiti in a 4-2 victory.
With a fully fit squad and an unbeaten streak at their backs, the Atlas Lions look ready to continue their historic World Cup run.
