Rabat  — Morocco’s tourism industry continues to bloom, evidenced by the large sum of travel receipts that pour in annually.

New data from the Exchange Office said travel revenues amounted to MAD 112.5 billion ($11.1 billion) last year, showing a growth of 7.5% compared to a year earlier.

Travel expenditures, meanwhile, reached MAD 29.36 billion ($2.9 billion), showing an increase of 22.9% year on year increase.

Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism reported on this momentum, citing that the sector employs at least 827,000 people, with 25,000 new jobs created just last year.

Also in 2024, the industry made a spectacular performance, with the country bringing in over 17 million tourists. This exceeds the target set for 2026.

By 2030, Morocco aims to attract at least 26 million visitors.

Morocco’s Tourism Office (ONMT) is also contributing to the sector’s development. Now the office has its sights set on Rabat, to turn the city into a “fully fledged” destination.

“Rabat, the City of Light…stands out for its historical legacy and cultural dynamism,” the tourism office said recently.

ONMT detailed the campaign aims to boost the city’s activity, making it an essential destination in the North African country.

“This stop in Rabat marks a major step forward in ONMT’s regional tour, confirming the office’s commitment to aligning public and private energies to build strong regional tourism brands,” ONMT said.
