Rabat – Spain and Portugal are considering easing visa rules for Moroccan football fans to ensure smooth travel between the three host countries of the 2030 World Cup, Schengen News reported today.

The report revealed that the governments of Morocco, Spain, and Portugal are working together to create a system that would make it easier for fans to travel between the three countries during the tournament.

A joint committee is discussing different options, and one of the main ideas being considered is a “fan card” system, according to Spanish outlet El Peridico de Ceuta.

This system was used in previous World Cups, such as the 2018 tournament in Russia and the 2022 event in Qatar. It allowed fans to enter host countries without a regular visa, which made travel easier.

Currently, Spanish and Portuguese nationals can enter Morocco without a visa for up to 90 days. However, Moroccan passport holders need to apply for a Schengen visa to visit the two European countries. This could be a challenge for Moroccan football fans who want to travel between the host countries during the World Cup.

Spain and Portugal are reportedly pushing for a solution that would make travel easier for Moroccan fans. The Spanish outlet suggested that the European Union may consider special measures, such as simplifying the visa process or allowing temporary visa-free entry for Moroccans during the tournament.

So far, no final decision has been made. However, the three governments are expected to provide more details in the coming months if an agreement is reached.
