Rabat– Youssef En-Nesyri made history on Thursday, February 13, by becoming the all-time highest-scoring Moroccan in the Europa League, with 11 goals.

The Moroccan striker achieved this milestone with a powerful header in the 57th minute, sealing Fenerbahçe’s convincing 3-0 victory against Anderlecht in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16.

En-Nesyri’s impressive form under the guidance of coach José Mourinho continues to shine, as his decisive goal solidified his status as one of the competition’s top scorers. With 5 goals, he ranks among the top three in the Europa League this season, trailing Moroccan player Ayoub Al Kaabi, who leads the chart with 7 goals.

En-Nesyri continues to make headlines as he climbs to second place among the world’s top scorers in 2025, with 12 goals to his name. The Moroccan striker is just behind Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembélé, who leads the chart with 15 goals.

In the Süper Lig, En-Nesyri has been a standout performer for Fenerbahçe, leading the club’s scoring tally with 13 goals and 4 assists this season. He also tops the scoring charts in the Turkish Cup, with 3 goals for the Yellow Canaries.

On the international stage, the Fez-born striker ranks as the 7th most-capped player in the history of the Atlas Lions, boasting 78 appearances across all competitions.

With 23 goals, En-Nesyri is the third-highest scorer among the current Moroccan squad, trailing only Hakim Ziyech (25 goals) and Ayoub Al Kaabi (26 goals, including those scored in the African Nations Championship).

His remarkable achievement was complemented by the solid performance of his compatriot, Sofiane Amrabat, who played a pivotal role in controlling the midfield and maintaining Fenerbahçe’s dominance throughout the match.

In a press conference following the game, the Portuguese coach commended the Moroccan defender’s performance and pivotal role. “We played solidly today. The players understand perfectly what we want to achieve. Amrabat was exceptional as a central defender… Sofiane is a very intelligent player, capable of quickly adapting to position changes,” Morihinio said.

The return leg is set for February 20 in Brussels. Anderlecht faces a challenging task as they aim to overturn a three-goal deficit following this heavy away defeat. Despite the comfortable lead, José Mourinho remains cautious, acknowledging the possibility of an upset.
