Rabat – Athletic Club Bilbao have signed center-forward Maroan Sannadi on a deal running until June 2029.
The 24-year-old joins after an agreement reached with Deportivo Alavés, with Barakaldo CF – whom Sannadi was loaned to – entitled to financial compensation for his departure.
Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Álava, Basque Country, to Moroccan parents, Sannadi has forged a reputation for himself. Standing at 1.92 metres, he has sharp instincts in the penalty area.
“He is a big center forward with great movement and a special instinct for making himself felt in the area,” the club stated.
The Moroccan striker showed his brilliance at Barakaldo CF, netting 11 in 20 games to finish the season as the top scorer in his Primera Federación group.
Sannadi’s professional career began in 2021 at Deportivo Alavés after he completed a transfer from CD Ariznabarra. Earlier, he played for CD Aurrera de Vitoria and CD Lakua, affiliated to Deportivo Alavés.
After three seasons of work in the youth teams of CD San Ignacio and the Babazorro reserve team, where he netted 33 goals, Sannadi joined Barakaldo CF to continue his meteoric rise.
Sannadi signed his contract at San Mamés with both Athletic Club Bilbao President Jon Uriarte and Football Director Mikel González present.
“Maroan is a footballer with great physical development and technical repertoire in different areas of the field,” they noted in a statement on the news.
