Rabat – The sales volume of Morocco’s footwear exports to Brazil for February grew by 3,300% compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the total value increased by 1,049%.
With this significant increase, Morocco ranked as one of the top 20 shoe suppliers to Brazil last month, according to a report released by the Brazilian Footwear Industry Association. The North African country sold 1,976 pairs of shoes to Brazil last month, totaling $32,500 in sales.
However, the average price per pair dropped from $48.78 in February 2024 to $16.45 this year, representing a decline of 66.3%. Despite this drop in price, Morocco ranked as the 17th largest footwear supplier to Brazil.
In total, Brazil imported $49.4 million worth of footwear in February. This represents a 7.5% decrease compared to the same month in 2024.
However, the number of pairs imported increased by 11.3% to reach 4.5 million pairs. For the first two months of 2025, Brazil’s total footwear imports amounted to $97.43 million, a 7.4% rise compared to the same period last year.
In terms of volume, 7.9 million pairs were imported in total, representing a 14.1% increase.
The main suppliers of footwear to Brazil were China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Paraguay.
In recent years, Morocco and Brazil have expressed their commitment to boosting trade cooperation.
In 2022, trade between the two countries reached a “historic high of $3.13 billion,” according to Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry attributed the increase to the fact that the Moroccan market has opened up to new Brazilian products.
