Rabat – Police in Marrakech have opened a criminal investigation into a 19-year-old girl with a criminal record for posting violent and threatening videos online. The young woman was arrested on Tuesday after she shared content mocking and bullying another young woman named Selma, whom she previously physically attacked.

The case has stirred strong reactions across Moroccan social media, with many users expressing shock and anger at the ongoing harassment against Selma, who is a social media personality. Her fans and followers are calling for justice.

The story began in 2022, when the suspect and Selma were students in high school. During a heated conflict, the suspect took a sharp blade and slashed Selma’s face, leaving her with a deep wound that required 56 stitches. The attack left Selma with a permanent scar.

Despite the severity of the assault, the attacker was only sentenced to two months in prison. Many felt that the punishment was too light for such a violent act.

After the attack, Selma, who dropped out of high school due to the incident, tried to move on with her life. She later started a social media account, where she gained followers for her honesty and strength. For a long time, she wore a bandage on her face to cover her scar, but when people began asking about it, she opened up and told her story.

Her story touched many people, and her online presence grew.

Recently, the same girl who attacked Selma began posting disturbing videos on social media, bullying Selma and making fun of her. In one video, she said: “I left prison two years ago, but did your face get fixed?” She laughed while talking about the old assault, made fun of Selma’s scar, and showed no remorse for her actions.

The videos shocked many Moroccans. People on social media quickly rallied behind Selma and strongly criticized the suspect for her bullying, as well as for her original attack and the short prison sentence she received. Many are now calling for stronger legal action and for authorities to step in to stop this threatening behavior.

According to a statement from Morocco’s National Security Directorate, the police took the videos seriously and opened an investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor. Officers were able to identify and arrest the suspect. They also seized a digital device believed to contain evidence of the cyberbullying and violent content.

The young woman is currently being held in police custody as the investigation continues. Authorities are also working to identify anyone else who may have helped her create or share the harmful content.
