Morocco international Azzedine Ounahi has been voted Panathinaikos’ Player of the Season, but doubts remain over his future in Greece following reports that Marseille have rejected an offer to make his loan move permanent.

The 25-year-old midfielder topped the club’s official fan vote with 25% of the total, following an impressive campaign that saw him score five goals and provide seven assists in all competitions. He joined Panathinaikos last summer on a season-long loan from Ligue 1 side Marseille.

According to Le360, Panathinaikos submitted a €5m bid to sign Ounahi permanently, but the French club are understood to be holding out for double that amount.

Financial constraints and UEFA’s updated regulations have reportedly limited the Greek side’s ability to meet Marseille’s valuation. As a result, Panathinaikos have returned with a new proposal that includes an extension of the loan deal and a mandatory €6m purchase clause in summer 2026.

Ounahi, who played a key role in Morocco’s historic run to the 2022 World Cup semi-finals, remains under contract with Marseille until 2027.
