Rabat — Spanish Sevilla FC will travel to Morocco for a friendly match against Wydad Athletic Club on May 27.
The game is scheduled to kick off at 08 p.m. local time at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
The Andalusian giants “will face one of Africa’s most successful clubs in this exhibition match,” said a statement on the Spanish club’s official website.
Wydad AC earned its spot in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup after claiming the CAF Champions League title in 2022.
According to the statement, the fixture will strengthen Sevilla’s growing connection with Morocco, “one of the countries where [the club’s] fan base is growing.”
The friendly game reflects the Spanish club’s identification of Morocco as a strategic target in its international growth plan.
The match offers fans in North Africa a rare opportunity to see Sevilla’s stars in action and features the club’s commitment to engaging with supporters beyond European borders.
Wydad Casablanca is gearing up to participate in the new 2025 FIFA Club World Cup next summer in the US, a tournament that will see the participation of 32 teams.
The Moroccan team will play three matches in the group stage — facing Manchester City, Juventus, and Al-Ain.
If the North African club manages to reach the final match, $30 million will be in their pocket, leveling up their prize to $77 million.
Should the team mix hard work and luck to win the final game, Wydad will bring a prize totaling $87 million.
Wydad’s match against Sevilla FC is an opportunity for the team players to hone their skills and achieve a prowess that could contribute to their performance in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup next summer.
