Tangier — Morocco’s Atlas Lions will kick off their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) campaign against Angola on August 3 at Nairobi’s Nyayo Stadium, Kenya.

The CAF TotalEnergies African Nations Championship runs from August 2-30 across three East African nations, namely Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released the tournament schedule on Friday, placing Morocco in Group A alongside several challenging opponents.

After their opener against Angola, Morocco will face host nation Kenya on August 10 at the Kassarani Stadium in Nairobi. The team’s third group stage match comes four days later on August 14, when they take on Zambia back at Nyayo Stadium.

Morocco will wrap up their group stage fixtures on August 17 with a clash against the Democratic Republic of Congo, once again at Nyayo Stadium.

The tournament begins on August 2 with Tanzania hosting Burkina Faso at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam. This opening match will set the stage for nearly a month of competition featuring Africa’s top domestic-based players.

Uganda’s capital Kampala will host the third-place playoff at the Mandela Stadium, while the championship final takes place on August 30 at Nairobi’s Kasarani Stadium.

The CHAN tournament is an opportunity for players who compete in their home country’s domestic leagues to show their talent, making it a unique platform for them across the continent.

Morocco will look to make their mark in this prestigious competition as they navigate through a competitive group stage in Kenya.
