Morocco and DR Congo meet at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi in a crucial Group C match of the TotalEnergies CHAN 2024. Both former champions sit on six points. Morocco need only a draw to reach the quarter-finals, while DR Congo must win to keep their hopes alive.
Malian referee Ousmane Diakate will blow the kick-off whistle at 1:00 pm (GMT+1), and fans can catch the action live on BeIN Sports MENA, BeIN Sports France, and SuperSports.
Morocco coach Tarek Sektioui is aiming for victory. “This is a very crucial match for us and our ambition is to get into the quarter finals. A win is all we are searching for. Our players have remained very professional, very committed to getting the win against a very tough opponent,” he said.
Defender Mohamed Moufid added: “It is not an easy match but one that we must play with a lot of courage and sacrifice. DR Congo have shown what they are worth as a team and it is not an opponent we can face lightly. We want to go to the next round and we have to sacrifice and play with a lot of heart.”
DR Congo coach Otis Ngoma admits the pressure is on. “It is not an easy match. These are two former champions meeting and there is a lot at stake. More so on the day, we have a quarter final ticket to play for,” he said.
Midfielder Age Basiala added: “Everyone knows that Morocco is not an easy team. They are one of the favourites for this Cup and we need to try and get into the game as quickly as possible and make less mistakes. Against such an opponent, any small mistake you make, you get punished. We really want to make the quarter finals and that means we have to win tomorrow.”
DR Congo also face the absence of Papy Kokeleya, with 21-year-old Jacques Kapanga Mwimba expected to step in at left-back.
