Ilias Akhomach has made his first appearance for Villarreal in more than nine months after recovering from a serious knee injury.
The Morocco international damaged his anterior cruciate ligament and medial ligament in his right knee on 10 November 2024, keeping him out for the rest of the season.
He returned on 24 August 2025 in the second round of La Liga, coming off the bench in the 62nd minute against Girona. Villarreal were already 4-0 up at the time and went on to win 5-0, with Ben Brereton-DĂaz Bochman scoring a hat-trick.
Akhomach played 28 minutes and looked sharp, showing signs that he is ready to work his way back into the side. His comeback is also likely to attract attention from Morocco coach Walid Regragui as he considers options for the national team.
The 20-year-old winger joined Villarreal from Barcelona B in July 2023 and is under contract with the Spanish club until 2026.
