Rabat — Violent clashes erupted yesterday evening between undocumented Sub-Saharan African immigrants living in tent camps n Ain Harrouda, a city in northeast of Casablanca.

According to local sources, public security forces, backed by Royal Gendarmerie and auxiliary units, evacuated the area following the deadly clashes that reportedly left two people dead and several wounded.

The violent confrontations broke out suddenly, with reports that the immigrants were attacking each other with sticks and knives. One victim suffered such severe injuries that his hand was severed during the fighting.

Local sources report that two groups of immigrants living in the makeshift camp engaged in sudden violence, wielding sticks and knives against each other. The clashes created chaos and panic among nearby residents.

Authorities did not yet announce anything about what sparked the violent confrontations between the immigrants.

Security reinforcements rushed to the scene as soon as officials received information of the incident. Large contingents of Royal Gendarmerie, auxiliary forces, and public security units surrounded the area and contained the fighting before evacuating immigrants from their informal housing.

Emergency responders transported the injured to the regional hospital for necessary medical treatment. Officials placed the bodies of the two victims in the hospital morgue.

According to the same sources, authorities have opened an urgent investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office.

Investigators aim to determine the circumstances surrounding these confrontations and uncover the reasons that led to such bloody violence.

Just two days ago, a similar incident took place, with a video circulating that showed a group of Sub-Saharan African immigrants engaging in violent clashes and causing chaos in the streets of Casablanca during the night.

The incident reflects ongoing challenges within undocumented immigrant settlements in the region, where poor living conditions and overcrowding can contribute to tensions between different groups.
