Morocco kept up their perfect run in World Cup qualifying with a 2-0 win over Zambia in Ndola on Monday.
The Atlas Lions had already sealed their spot at the 2026 World Cup, but they still came out strong. Youssef En-Nesyri needed just seven minutes to break the deadlock, taking advantage of a defensive error after good pressing from Bilal El Khannous.
Morocco stayed in control for much of the first half. Adam Masina almost added a second before later denying a dangerous Zambian counter. The hosts created their best chance through Leicester striker Patson Daka, but Yassine Bounou pulled off a brilliant stop to keep Morocco ahead.
Straight after the break, Hamza Igamane doubled the lead with a stunning strike from outside the box. His powerful effort gave goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata no chance.
Zambia tried to respond, hitting the post midway through the second half, but Morocco stayed solid at the back. Igamane could have grabbed another late on, but his shot flew over the bar.
Coach Walid Regragui made five changes from the side that beat Niger last week and also handed Omar El Hilali his senior debut at right-back. Despite the rotation, Morocco never looked troubled and managed the game well.
The result means Morocco remain top of Group E with 21 points from seven games — the only team in the group with a 100% record. They’ve scored 21 goals so far – the best frontline in the qualifiers – and conceded just twice.
Tanzania sit second on 10 points, while Zambia are third on six.
