Rabat – The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) has announced the appointment of Ali Belhaj as president of the Morocco-UK Business Council.
The decision was made during CGEM’s board meeting held on September 15.
Belhaj currently serves as president of Hippone Holding, a family group with activities spanning logistics, industrial real estate, and agriculture.
A graduate in economics, he also holds an MBA from the University of Southern California. He began his career at Compagnie Financière d’Investissement (CFI) before expanding his footprint into strategic sectors, including real estate and agriculture.
His institutional trajectory is equally extensive. Belhaj has served as president of the Oriental region, head of the Oriental Investment Fund, vice-president of the international R20 network for climate action, deputy of Dar Bouazza, and president of its commune. Within CGEM, he also chaired the Sub-Commission for the Promotion of Ethics.
Recognized on the international stage, Belhaj is a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Leaders of Tomorrow, the Global Development Network, and New York’s Foreign Policy Association.
He also has established strong ties with the UK, where he has acted as an economic operator.
His contributions as a guest speaker at institutions such as Harvard University, the University of Warwick, and the Paris Institute of International Relations demonstrate the reach of his intellectual and professional influence.
With this nomination, CGEM seeks to deepen economic and commercial relations between Morocco and the UK.
Belhaj is expected to bring his experience, international network, and strategic vision to stimulate bilateral trade and encourage innovative and sustainable investments.
