Rabat — The General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Movement of Enterprises in France (MEDEF) are gearing up to hold a high-level economic forum in Dakhla on October 9.

According to a statement from the organizers, the high-level event is set to bring over 300 company executives from both countries.

The forum builds on French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent state visit to Morocco, during which he declared that the Sahara’s present and future fall under Morocco’s sovereignty, the statement indicated.

It added that the event aims to strengthen the already robust economic and commercial ties between the two countries.

CGEM and MEDEF are holding this significant event through the France-Morocco Business Leaders Club, choosing Dakhla for its strategic and economic importance. The region enjoys the growing drive of Morocco’s economic dynamism and potential through major investments and its role as a gateway between Europe and Africa.

The forum will allow business leaders from both countries to identify new partnerships and explore opportunities in several key sectors.

Major sectors include renewable energy, infrastructure and logistics, sustainable tourism and hospitality, agribusiness and food security, innovative services and digital technology, and skills training and development.

This meeting represents the continuation of a long-term partnernhip between CGEM and MEDEF.

In April 2024, a business forum in Rabat attracted over 300 French and Moroccan entrepreneurs, leading to the drafting of a roadmap for business cooperation.

A previous forum took place in Rabat in October 2024. Back then, Macron attended and witnessed, along with King Mohammed VI, the signing of about 20 economic agreements covering finance, desalination, energy, and new technologies.

The Dakhla economic meeting reflects both organizations’ commitment to the “reinforced exceptional partnership” that binds Morocco and France.

It also demonstrates a shared goal: promoting investment, encouraging innovation, and creating added value and jobs.

For French entrepreneurs, the forum offers a chance to explore an emerging market in Morocco’s southern provinces, combining national appeal with a strategic position linking Europe and Africa.
