Everton are open to a loan move for 19-year-old Moroccan international Adam Aznou in the winter transfer window. The left-back has struggled for game time since joining from Bayern Munich in the summer, with fitness issues affecting his early weeks at the club.
Aznou has yet to make his senior debut for Everton, playing only 171 minutes for the under-21 side this season. Manager David Moyes said he is “not yet ready to challenge Vitalii Mykolenko” for the first-team left-back spot but described him as “a really good footballer.” Moyes added that Aznou needs time to build physicality and gain experience.
The club believes a loan spell would provide regular minutes and accelerate his development. Everton are willing to consider offers from teams that can provide a suitable environment for growth. Spanish clubs have shown interest, with Getafe CF considered the leading contender. The club had previously agreed a summer move for Aznou, but a last-minute disagreement over a purchase clause ended the deal.
Aznou spent his youth career at Barcelona’s La Masia before joining Bayern Munich. He also had a brief spell with Real Valladolid in the 2024/25 season to gain first-team experience. The Moroccan international has made three appearances for his national side, registering one assist.
Everton paid $10.5m for Aznou, whom Moyes described as a long-term investment. “Left-backs are not easy to get, and we’ve brought in a young player who we hope will grow in his time at Everton,” he said.
With Mykolenko firmly established as the first choice, a loan move is seen as the best way for Aznou to gain experience, maintain match fitness, and strengthen his chances of playing for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
