Al Ahly will part ways with Moroccan defender Achraf Dari in the upcoming winter transfer window, sources told Africafoot. The decision follows repeated injuries that have kept Dari out of action for long periods, limiting his impact in the Egyptian Premier League and CAF Champions League.
Dari joined Al Ahly in summer 2024 on a four-year contract until June 2028. He has rejected a move to a Libyan club, insisting that the club pay his full contract before any departure.
Al Ahly is now considering alternative options. The club may loan him to a Moroccan team or sell him to a Gulf region club while continuing to cover part of his salary, as it did with Reda Slim, who was loaned to FAR Rabat. Africafoot had previously reported Al Ahly’s interest in a Saudi exit for Dari.
A meeting is planned after the Egyptian Super Cup, held from 6 to 9 November in Abu Dhabi, to discuss his future. Club officials will consider his fitness, contract demands, and the team’s need to strengthen other positions.
Moroccan players have historically avoided Libya during periods of instability. Major departures occurred during the 2011 revolution, the 2014 civil war, and more recently during Tripoli clashes in 2019–20 and May 2025.
Renewed violence has repeatedly prompted Moroccan players to leave for safety.
