Morocco captain Ghizlane Chebbak has been nominated for a place in the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World 11, the global team of the year voted for by professional players.
The Al Hilal midfielder is among 23 players shortlisted for the final lineup, and is joined on the list by two other African players – Zambia’s Barbra Banda and Nigeria’s Michelle Alozie.
Chebbak, captain of the Atlas Lionesses, has been a central figure in Moroccan women’s football. She led Morocco to their first-ever Women’s World Cup appearance in 2023 and to the final of the 2022 and 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Among the other nominees are Spain’s Aitana Bonmatí, a three-time Ballon d’Or winner, Brazilian legend Marta, and England’s Alessia Russo, who helped Arsenal win the 2025 Women’s Champions League and the Euro title.
Chebbak’s nomination follows a growing Moroccan presence in global football honours. Achraf Hakimi became the first Moroccan to make the FIFPRO Men’s World 11 in 2022 after Morocco’s historic World Cup run. The right-back has since been shortlisted again for the 2025 edition.
Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou and forward Soufiane Rahimi were both nominated for FIFA’s Best Men’s XI in 2024, marking further recognition of Moroccan players’ rise on the world stage.
Morocco’s international achievements, including the men’s World Cup semi-final finish in 2022 and the women’s national team’s success in recent tournaments, have lifted the country’s football profile globally.
Chebbak’s inclusion among the world’s elite signals another milestone for Moroccan football, as she becomes the first Moroccan woman to be nominated for FIFPRO’s World 11.
The final team will be revealed by FIFPRO on November 3.
