Rabat – A video circulating widely, where a baby was physically assaulted by an eight-year-old girl at a daycare center in Tangier, sparked outrage on social media.

According to viral accounts based on converging reports, an eight-year-old girl dropped the infant. The video shows the eight-year-old girl violently stepping on the baby’s back and physically assaulting her.

Morocco World News was unable to verify the video’s authenticity.

The baby was identified as an eight-month-old girl who died after sustaining severe head injuries that caused internal bleeding.

Converging reports quoted security sources saying that the baby’s parents filed a complaint regarding a suspicious fall that their child was subject to at the daycare.

The complaint came after the daycare owner told them the infant had fallen from a high place.

Security camera footage, however, contradicted the account, showing the eight-year-old girl involved in violently assaulting the baby.

The footage camera shows the girl repeatedly throwing the baby and kicking her.

Some reports alleged that the daycare staff assigned the eight-year-old girl to take care of the infants during her time at the center after school.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances of the case, with the daycare owner and staff being interrogated.

However, the child involved in the crime was reportedly handed to her family as she is a minor.

Many reports stressed that the daycare has been receiving backlash for unsafe conditions and lack of minimum safety standards.
