Rabat – Moroccan embassies around the world have called on Moroccan citizens living abroad who are not yet registered in the electoral lists to submit their registration or transfer requests before the end of this month.

Each embassy published an announcement on social media inviting Moroccans abroad to complete their registration requests by 31 December 2025 at the latest. The requests can be submitted directly at the embassy or through the official online portal for general electoral lists.

This announcement comes as part of preparations for the annual review of the general electoral lists for the year 2026, in accordance with Law No. 57.11 related to general electoral lists, referendums, and the use of public audiovisual media during election and referendum campaigns.

The embassies said it is important to submit registration or transfer requests as soon as possible and fill in all required information within the set deadlines. They said this will allow concerned citizens to exercise their right to be registered in the general electoral lists of Moroccan municipalities.

Earlier, the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, announced that the process of submitting registration requests for the 2026 electoral list review will continue until 31 December 2025.

He explained that all Moroccan citizens who meet the legal requirements, and who are at least 18 years old, or will turn 18 by 31 March 2026, may submit their registration requests before the deadline.

Citizens can register at the local administrative authority of their place of residence or through the official website.

Morocco is preparing for its next general elections, which will take place in September 2026. These elections are legislative, meaning citizens will vote to elect the 395 members of the House of Representatives, the main chamber of Parliament.

The vote will use the proportional representation system, similar to the 2021 elections, with seats distributed across local and regional constituencies.
