Rabat – Muslims in Belgium are expected to begin observing the holy month of Ramadan on February 18, according to the Hamari Website.
The sacred month is anticipated to conclude around March 18, depending on the official moon sighting.
Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is a deeply spiritual period observed by Muslims worldwide.Â
From dawn to sunset, believers fast as an act of worship, self-discipline, and empathy for those less fortunate. The fast is broken each evening at sunset.
Throughout the month, Muslims begin their day with a pre-dawn meal known as Suhoor, which is consumed before the Fajr prayer.Â
From that moment until sunset, they abstain from food and drink. The fast is broken at sunset with Iftar, following the call to the Maghrib prayer.
Ramadan holds immense religious significance in Islam. It marks the month during which the Holy Quran was revealed, making it a time of increased devotion, prayer, and reflection.Â
In addition to the five daily prayers, Muslims perform Taraweeh prayers each night after the Isha prayer.
