Rabat – Morocco’s national carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced on Friday that several of its flights have been cancelled due to the closure of airspace in parts of the Middle East, following the United States and Israel’s attacks on Iran.

“Due to the closure of certain airspaces in the Middle East region, some of our flights have been cancelled, and others may also be subject to cancellation, in strict compliance with aviation safety and security standards,” RAM said.

The airline confirmed that, because of the closure of Qatari airspace, flights AT216 and AT217 scheduled for today have been cancelled. RAM teams are monitoring developments in real time to keep passengers informed as quickly as possible, noted the statement.

It urged passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport and to update their contact information in the “Manage Booking” section on the airline’s website to receive notifications related to their travel.

The disruption comes amid a major escalation in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump announced the start of “major combat operations” against Iran, carried out in coordination with Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the strikes were aimed at removing what he described as an “existential threat.”

In response, Iran launched missiles and drones toward Israel and several Gulf countries hosting US military bases, including Qatar and Bahrain. Explosions were reported in Tel Aviv and Doha, while Gulf states temporarily closed parts of their airspace as air defense systems intercepted incoming missiles.

The rapidly evolving security situation has led to widespread flight suspensions across the region, with several international airlines halting operations to affected destinations.

RAM apologized for the inconvenience caused by what it described as circumstances beyond its control and thanked customers for their understanding. The airline said that passenger safety remains its top priority as it continues to assess the situation.
