Rabat—The Jordan Football Association (JFA) officially announced the appointment of Moroccan coach Lamia Boumehdi as the new head coach of the Jordan women’s national team, a new step in the career of one of Africa’s most successful women’s football managers.
The former Moroccan international will lead the national team while also contributing to the broader development of women’s football within the Jordan Football Association structure.
Boumehdi built a strong reputation in African football during her time with TP Mazembe Women in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She guided the club to major domestic successes and continental recognition, notably winning the CAF Women’s Champions League and earning widespread praise for her tactical work and team development.
Her achievements have also been recognized individually. Boumehdi was named CAF Women’s Coach of the Year in 2024 and retained the award in 2025.

Before her club success in Congo, the Moroccan tactician had already built experience within the Moroccan football system. She coached several youth national teams and briefly served as head coach of the senior Morocco women’s national football team in 2020.
A former player herself, Boumehdi represented Morocco internationally and captained the national team during her playing career before moving into coaching.
With Boumehdi now in charge, the Jordanian federation hopes to strengthen the national team and continue building its women’s football program ahead of upcoming regional and continental competitions.
