Agadir – Kuwait is expected to observe Eid Al Fitr on Friday, March 20, as moon sighting operations across the nation indicated that the Shawwal moon was not sighted on the 29th day of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the moon sighting operations, the Shawwal moon was invisible, which means that the holy month of Ramadan is expected to end after 30 days, with Eid Al Fitr expected on Friday.
This announcement is in line with the larger coordination of the region as religious officials across the Gulf – particularly Saudi Arabia – and the larger Muslim world rely on confirmed moon sightings to begin the tenth month of the Islamic calendar, known as Shawwal.
Eid Al Fitr is considered one of the most important religious celebrations in Islam, characterized by communal prayers, family reunions, and acts of benevolence.Â
In Kuwait, as in all other Muslim communities, preparations are in full swing as people are welcoming this day to celebrate this occasion after the end of the holy month of Ramadan.Â
Eid breakfast in the country often consists of machboos (spiced rice with meat), ouzi (rice with lamb, nuts, and raisins), harees (wheat and meat porridge), and desserts like luqaimat.Â
