Rabat– Morocco is participating in the inaugural International Transport and Logistics Forum in Saint Petersburg, which brings together government officials and industry leaders from around 60 countries.
The forum, organized by the Russian Ministry of Transport with support from the government and Roscongress Foundation, seeks to create a lasting platform for dialogue as connectivity and logistics become central to global economic resilience.
The North African country is using the platform to showcase its experience and strengthen international partnerships in a rapidly evolving sector.
Morocco is represented by Abdessamad Kayouh, Minister of Transport and Logistics, who heads an official delegation that includes senior ministry officials. The country’s ambassador to Russia, Lotfi Bouchaara, is also attending.
Running until April 3, Morocco’s presence at the forum aims to showcase its achievements in transport and logistics and bolster multilateral cooperation in the sector.
The event allows Rabat to position itself as a credible and forward-looking partner at a time when global supply chains and mobility systems are under increasing pressure to modernise.
On the sidelines of the forum, a bilateral meeting is expected to take place between Kayouh and his Russian counterpart, Andrey Nikitin.
The meeting follows discussions held during the eighth session of the Moroccan-Russian Joint Government Commission, which convened in Moscow in October 2025.
The talks are expected to culminate in the signing of two agreements. The first is a bilateral accord on international road transport for passengers and goods.The second is a protocol amending the existing air services agreement signed in March 2016.
Together, these measures intend to strengthen the legal and operational framework for transport links between Morocco and Russia.
The Saint Petersburg forum is emerging as a key platform on the global transport agenda, bringing together policymakers, operators, and experts to discuss the future of mobility and logistics amid technological innovation and shifting economic realities.
Over 40 sessions and roundtables at the forum will explore how modern technologies can improve transport safety, efficiency, and the experience of passengers and freight.
Much of the debate also focuses on how advanced technologies are transforming the sector and the need to update international regulations to keep pace with digitalisation and new mobility models.
For Morocco, the forum is a platform for action, shaping partnerships, connecting with global trends, and asserting its role as a bridge between regions.
