Rabat – As the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws closer, Moroccan authorities are intensifying efforts to help supporters prepare for the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Embassy of Morocco in Washington has released an explanatory video outlining the main procedures and recommendations for Moroccan fans planning to travel to the US.
to support the Atlas Lions. The video is designed to simplify administrative and logistical steps, focusing on visas, transport, accommodation, and general travel preparation.
Morocco has been drawn into Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti. According to the embassy, New Jersey will serve as a central hub for Moroccan supporters during the opening phase.
The Atlas Lions will begin their campaign against Brazil on June 13 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
They will then face Scotland on June 19 at Gillette Stadium in Boston before concluding the group stage against Haiti on June 24 at Mercedes‑Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Visa procedures
The embassy pointed to the introduction of a “FIFA Visa” system by U.S. authorities to expedite appointments for World Cup-related interviews.
Fans must first secure match tickets through FIFA’s official platform before applying for a visa via the American consulate website.
The video explains six standard steps:
- Select the visa type.
- Complete the DS‑160 form carefully and honestly.
- Pay the visa fees.
- Schedule an interview appointment.
- Present the required documents.
- Track passport delivery after approval.
Accommodation and insurance
Supporters are advised to book accommodation well in advance due to expected high demand.
The embassy also urged fans to secure health and travel insurance, stressing that medical coverage is particularly important in the United States, where healthcare costs are high.
Direct flights are available from Casablanca to several US cities, including Washington, New York, and Miami, with flight times ranging from seven to eight and a half hours.
A new direct route to Los Angeles is scheduled to launch on June 7, expanding travel options for Moroccan fans.
Practical recommendations
The embassy encouraged supporters to prepare their international banking services, activate roaming or eSIM options for communication, and avoid carrying prohibited items restricted by US customs.
It also announced that Moroccan consulates across the US will set up support cells to assist fans during the tournament. Emergency contact numbers and guidance services will be available throughout the competition.
