Rabat – Raja Casablanca supporters “Eagles” and “Green Boys” issued on Monday, May 11 a statement disowning any ties related to the violent video circulating on social media, reacting to what they described as “systemic campaigns” aiming to destroy both groups’ reputation.
The statement explains that what happened contrasts starkly with the group’s identity and values.“It does not represent us or reflect our principles in any way,” the group said.“
Therefore, we affirm that the crimes or aggressions that occur remain individual acts for which the perpetrators bear full responsibility before the law. As groups, we categorically reject and condemn these behaviors, and there is no place for criminals among us.”
Curva Sud also voiced frustration over the way the incident was handled and presented publicly, saying that instead of blaming supporter groups, especially as ultras movements have become, for many young people, “the only space” that allows them to fully express themselves,“in the absence of youth centers, theaters, and spaces for subcultures.”
It is more important to look at the real issue, arguing that it lies in the factors behind the spread of drugs and violence across neighborhoods.
The group also criticised what it called “paid journalism” and several social media pages linked to rival fans, accusing them of pushing public opinion against ultras culture by sharing information without verifying if it’s true or not.
Some parties “have chosen to be mouthpieces serving security agendas and tools to mislead public opinion and justify the systematic targeting of young fans in the stands,” the group lamented.“We do not yet know the price these fabricated parties are receiving, but it is clear that they have sold their dignity for petty interests. What we are facing today is a blatant attempt to distort our image and label any young person passionate about their club as a criminal.”
Curva Sud concluded by reaffirming its stance, stating that it is stronger than any attempts to distort its image or spread false accusations. It stressed that all efforts to drag it into fake issues would only strengthen its commitment to its principles and firm positions.
