Enzo Maresca Set to Take Over at Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s era at Manchester City is set to come to an end, with the club already preparing for a new project after his reign.

Fabrizio Romano says Enzo Maresca has agreed verbally to be the next Manchester City manager. The Italian is set to sign a three-year deal at the Etihad, with Romano’s trademark “Here We Go” tweet indicating the deal is all but done.

Maresca, 46, is no stranger to Man City. He was in the set-up during the club’s iconic 2022-23 campaign when they won a historic treble of the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, as part of Guardiola’s coaching staff.

Since then, his managerial career has been rapid. He won the Championship with Leicester City in 2024 before moving to Chelsea, where he won the Europa League and FIFA Club World Cup in 2025, before leaving the club in early 2026.

Romano now says a full three-year verbal agreement has been reached, although a few previous reports had indicated a shorter contract with an extension option.

Maresca’s arrival is expected to be announced shortly, with Guardiola set to step down after Sunday’s final Premier League match fixture against Aston Villa, bringing to an end 10 years with 20 major trophies and a lasting mark on English football.
