Rabat – Arsenal has officially been crowned Premier League champions, ending a 22-year wait for the title after Manchester City was held to a 1-1 draw by AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
The result mathematically secured the title for Arsenal, who had done their part a day earlier with a 1-0 win over Burnley. That win left Mikel Arteta’s team 5 points clear and forced City into a must-win situation heading into the trip to the south coast.
But Bournemouth had other plans. The home side took the lead through Eli Junior Kroupi, putting pressure on City and shifting the mood of the title race. Erling Haaland eventually found a late equalizer in stoppage time, but City could not find the goal they needed to keep the race alive.
And with that, celebrations started across North London. It brings an end to a wait that stretches back to the famous “Invincibles” season of 2004 for Arsenal fans, when Arsene Wenger led the club to one of the greatest campaigns in league history.
The title is also a major moment for Mikel Arteta, whose rebuilding project has now delivered the club’s first league championship since taking over in 2019.
Arsenal’s attacking football has grabbed attention throughout the season, but much of the title run was also built at the other end of the pitch. Goalkeeper David Raya played a huge role, collecting the Golden Glove for a third consecutive season, with Arsenal finishing as the league’s strongest defensive record and 19 clean sheets.

One trophy won, another still possible
The celebrations will continue this weekend when Arsenal host Crystal Palace and officially lift the trophy in front of their fans.
But the season is not over just yet. The Gunners now turns its attention toward an even bigger opportunity: the UEFA Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain on May 30 in Budapest.
The Premier League title has already ended a 22-year wait. Arsenal’s men’s team has never won the UEFA Champions League. Their closest finish was in the 2005-06 season, where they reached the final but were defeated. Now Arsenal have the chance to turn a memorable season into a historic one.
