Rabat – Aston Villa have lifted the Europa League trophy, their first major title in 25 years, after a commanding 3‑0 win over Freiburg in the final played at Besiktas Park in Turkey.
Villa settled the contest early. Youri Tielemans opened the scoring in the 40th minute, followed by Emiliano Buendía just before half‑time.
The English side kept control after the break, and Morgan Rogers sealed victory with a third goal in the 57th minute. Freiburg never recovered, and Villa’s dominance ensured a historic night for the club.
This win marks Villa’s fourth European trophy. They previously won the European Cup in 1982, the UEFA Super Cup the same year, and the Intertoto Cup in 2001.
The latest success ends a long drought since that Intertoto win, underlining the club’s return to the continental stage.

Domestically, Villa’s last league title came in 1981, and they have lifted the FA Cup seven times.
The Europa League crown now adds fresh prestige to their history and secures qualification for the 2026‑27 Champions League, giving them a chance to compete among Europe’s elite once again.
For Villa supporters, the victory is more than silverware. It represents the culmination of years of rebuilding and ambition, restoring the club’s reputation in European football.
The win also shows the impact of key signings and the balance in the squad, which delivered on the biggest stage.
