Rabat – French civil engineering construction company Eiffage announced today that its subsidiary Eiffage Energie Systeme is constructing four photovoltaic power plants and their grid connection as part of the Noor Atlas Program in Morocco.

In a statement, the company said that it is carrying out the project on behalf of the Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN), stressing that the program aims to reduce Morocco’s energy dependence.

Construction began in early 2026.

The project also aims to strengthen Morocco’s electricity generation capacity and to contribute to the development of the national solar sector.

Eiffage subsidiary’s role in the project is the design, supply, construction, installation, and commissioning of the facilities.

It is also in charge of the seven-year operation and maintenance of the four solar power plants in the northeast of Morocco, with a total capacity of 225 megawatt-peak (MWp).

The delivery of the project is expected in mid-2027, the statement said.

Morocco has started the construction of the Noor Atlas photovoltaic solar program, delivering 305 megawatts of solar power from six plants across the country, according to the Africa Energy portal.

The aim is to increase renewable electricity supply and improve power reliability across several regions.

Earlier this year, MASEN announced that it is working on a nationwide geographic information system for renewable energy in 2026.

The project is in line with Morocco’s goal to raise the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix to 52% by 2030. The North African country is expected to reach around 56% renewable capacity by next year, exceeding the initial target.
