For many players, a World Cup call-up is the fulfillment of years of work. And Gessime Yassine, the emotion was impossible to hide.
After being included in Mohamed Ouahbi’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the young forward shared an emotional reaction on Instagram following the biggest call-up of his career.
“Childhood dreams becoming reality. Wearing this jersey in a World Cup means the world to me,” he wrote.
Gessime continued. “Thinking about the journey, the sacrifices, the difficult moments, and seeing my country behind me today. It’s hard to explain with words.”
The message was faithful to the significance of the occasion. Gessime had already represented Morocco at youth level and was crowned World champion with the U20 team. This is his first call-up to a senior World Cup squad with the Atlas Lions.

And his message made it clear that he understands the responsibility that comes with it.
“Proud, grateful and aware of everything this moment represents. I am going to give everything for this jersey, for this country and for all the Moroccan people. The dream continues.”
Morocco heads into the 2026 World Cup with huge expectations after its historic semifinal run in Qatar 4 years ago. With veterans returning and a new generation arriving, players like Gessime now have an opportunity to write the next chapter.
