The club confirmed his departure, saying Slot has been dismissed “with immediate effect” and that “the process of appointing his successor is underway.”
According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have already made their choice: “Andoni Iraola should become the next manager of Liverpool, as revealed earlier today! Negotiations will move quickly to finalize the formalities, but Liverpool’s decision is made. Iraola will be the next manager.”
Iraola is now in pole position for the job, with Liverpool viewing him as the profile to take the team forward and bring their legacy back home.
The Spaniard has built a strong reputation in the Premier League for his high-intensity style and pressing football, with fast transitions that demand a lot of running and structure out of possession.
After a successful season with Bournemouth, the 43-year-old comes as a clear favorite, in hope to build his legacy and write his name among the greats.
