Rabat – Brazil’s coach Carlo Ancelotti says the team that beat Panama 6‑2 in a recent friendly will look very similar to the one that faces Morocco in their 2026 FIFA World Cup opener.
Speaking in the press conference after the Panama match yesterday, Ancelotti explained that the Panama match was used to build rhythm and confidence.
“It will not be very different. We want to use this game to improve readiness and strengthen the connection between players,” he said.
The Italian coach added that he intends to give minutes to all squad members and create a positive atmosphere before the tournament begins.
Ancelotti stressed the importance of unity. “We must think as one team, whether we play well or face difficulties. We share responsibility, we share mistakes, and we share the pressure. We also want to give the Brazilian people joy and hope,” he said.
One area of debate remains Lucas Paquetá’s role. Ancelotti admitted his position is still under discussion.
He suggested Paquetá could be used on the left side, but not as a traditional winger. Instead, the plan would be to use his defensive qualities and ability to track opposing full‑backs.
The coach also said that he will not reveal every tactical detail before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. “Until the tournament, I want to leave some mystery. Otherwise, we will have nothing to talk about. Neymar’s situation is finished, so what else would we discuss?” he joked.
Ancelotti stressed that Paquetá should play closer to his natural role, as an attacking midfielder or second striker.
He pointed out that in the Panama match, Vinícius Júnior and Raphinha also operated in flexible positions, showing how Brazil’s attack can adapt.
The Selecao will face Morocco in their opening fixture on June 13, a match already attracting global attention.
With Neymar’s fitness still under close watch, the coach’s comments suggest Brazil will rely on collective strength rather than individual stars.
Panama’s performance offered a preview, and Ancelotti appears ready to carry that same approach into the clash with Morocco.
