Fez is considered Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital and is home to one of the world's largest and oldest medieval urban areas.

Rabat – Spanish airline Vueling has launched a new direct route connecting Barcelona and Fez, expanding air links between Spain and Morocco during the busy summer travel season.

The new route began operating on June 2 and will run twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays, until September 19. According to the airline, the first flight landed in Fez early Tuesday morning.

With the addition of Fez, Vueling now serves six Moroccan destinations from Barcelona. The airline already offers flights to Marrakech, Tangier, Essaouira, Agadir, and Nador. This reflects growing travel demand between the two countries.

The new connection is expected to make it easier for tourists, business travelers, and members of the Moroccan diaspora in Spain to visit one of Morocco’s most historic cities during the summer months.

Founded in 2004, Vueling is one of Spain’s leading low-cost airlines and a member of the International Airlines Group (IAG). The carrier operates hundreds of routes across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, with Barcelona serving as one of its main hubs.

Fez is considered Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital and is home to one of the world’s largest and oldest medieval urban areas. The city attracts visitors with its historic medina, traditional souks, ancient madrasas, and rich Moroccan heritage.

The medina of Fez is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and remains one of the country’s most visited attractions.

The launch comes as Morocco continues to strengthen its position as a major tourism destination.

The country has seen record tourism growth in recent years, thanks to improved air connectivity, investment in tourism infrastructure, and growing international interest in Morocco’s culture, cuisine, beaches, mountains, and desert landscapes.
