Casablanca — The Municipal Equipment Fund (FEC) has launched a public tender seeking technical assistance to obtain accreditation from the Green Climate Fund, a move that could strengthen its ability to support climate-related investment projects across Morocco.
The tender, published on June 3 under reference AO/0926, concerns a consultancy mission aimed at helping the Rabat-based institution secure accreditation from the Green Climate Fund, commonly known as the GCF. The fund is the world’s largest dedicated climate finance mechanism and works through accredited entities that can develop and implement projects eligible for GCF financing.
According to the tender notice, bids must be submitted electronically through Morocco’s public procurement portal no later than June 29, at 3 p.m. The opening session of bids is scheduled for the same day and time at the FEC headquarters in Rabat.
The estimated value of the contract is set at MAD 700,000 ($76,214), including taxes, while the provisional bid bond has been fixed at MAD 10,500 ($1,143.21).
The tender documents can be obtained from the FEC headquarters at Espace Oudayas in Hay Ryad, Rabat, as well as through the institution’s website and Morocco’s public procurement platform. The project is financed by the French Development Agency (AFD).

FEC said the content and presentation of bidders’ files must comply with the requirements outlined in the tender documents. All offers must be submitted electronically.
The move comes as Morocco continues to expand its climate finance ecosystem and seek greater access to international funding for environmental and resilience projects. In recent months, several initiatives linked to the Green Climate Fund have advanced in the country. In April, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization launched a GCF Readiness Project in Morocco focused on supporting the country’s green hydrogen ambitions and industrial decarbonization efforts.
Earlier this year, Morocco was also reported to be preparing a pipeline of climate projects valued at more than $200 million, with some initiatives advancing toward large-scale financing through the Green Climate Fund.
The FEC, a public financial institution that supports local authorities and territorial development projects, is now seeking to join the network of accredited entities that can directly access and manage Green Climate Fund resources.
