Rabat – The Brazilian national team head coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has spoken on the physical condition of the Brazilian star Neymar indicating that he will undergo an MRI scan next Monday, which may determine his right calf injury as part of his race to be fit for the World Cup in which they will face Morocco in the group stage.
Ancellotti told the media that Neymar’s situation is very clear, adding that the forward is making excellent progress in his individual training. He noted that Neymar is scheduled for an MRI scan next week to assess his fitness.
Neymar was injured in Santos’ defeat to Coritiba on May 17, one day before Ancelotti announced Brazil’s World Cup squad. He was diagnosed with an edema swelling in his calf, which the tests carried out by Brazil’s medical staff on May 28 revealed would need at least two weeks to heal.
The 34 year-old striker top scorer with 79 goals has not played for his country since tearing his ACL in October 2023. The three-time World Cup veteran has struggled with injuries ever since.
Brazil will begin their world cup campaign against the Atlas Lions in New Jersey on June 13, but questions remain over Neymar’s fitness.
