Rabat – Brazil’s head coach Carlo Ancelotti says he has already decided his starting lineup for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opener against Morocco, just days before the two sides meet in Group C.
The five-time world champions completed their final preparations with a 2-1 win over Egypt on Saturday at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland.
Bruno Guimaraes gave Brazil an early lead before Mostafa Ziko equalized for Egypt minutes later. Endrick then came off the bench in the second half and scored the winner for Ancelotti’s side.
Speaking after the match, Ancelotti said that his main plan for the Morocco game is already in place.
“I have decided the starting lineup to face Morocco,” Ancelotti said. “The changes I may make will depend on some details, but the idea is clear.”
Brazil’s coach also hailed the attacking connection between Vinicius Junior and Raphinha, saying both players showed a strong understanding in advanced areas.
He said their movement helped Brazil create chances and gave the team more options in attack.
The win gives Brazil a positive result before the 2026 FIFA World Cup begins, but the match also brought concern.
Right-back Wesley was forced off with an injury and left the pitch in tears. Brazil will now wait for further medical tests to determine whether he can remain available for the tournament.
Endrick’s goal also gave Ancelotti something to think about before the Morocco match. The young forward made an immediate impact after coming on, finishing from a Raphinha assist and showing why he remains one of Brazil’s most exciting attacking options.
Brazil will open their World Cup campaign against Morocco on June 13 at 23:00 GMT+1.
The match is expected to be one of the most-watched games of the first round, with both teams entering the tournament with high expectations.
Morocco, which made history by reaching the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will face Brazil in a difficult Group C that also includes Scotland and Haiti.
The Atlas Lions will finish their own preparations with a friendly against Norway this evening.
