Rabat – Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo has praised the footballing and academic maturity of Morocco’s rising star Ayoub Bouaddi as he shines on the World Cup stage.

The publication noted that Bouaddi uses mathematical principles to control space on the field, balancing his football with exceptional academic skills.

“Maintaining balance, dividing the field, and giving each number its due value. His curls could be Einstein’s, but in the form of an 18-year-old son of immigrants, raised on critical thinking,” Mundo Deportivo said.

Detailing the Moroccan international’s rapid rise at Lille, the publication recalled that he debuted at 16 and became the youngest player in European competition. It added that he rejected a move to a star-studded PSG, preferring to stay at Lille to control his own career path.

The outlet also noted that French manager Didier Deschamps frequently discussed Bouaddi, wanting to offer him a prominent role alongside stars like Mbappé and Dembélé. However, the teenager officially chose to represent Morocco, the homeland of his parents, due to his deep connection to the country.

“For the young player, it was a liberation to be able to show the world his identification with Morocco, his desire to defend not only a footballing philosophy but also a culture, his origins, a way of understanding life, work, and effort,” the publication stressed.

It went in to commend the midfielder’s dominance on the pitch against Brazil, noting that “his ability to control the midfield wasn’t just a matter of willpower, but a display of technical precision, resulting in astonishing statistics: a 91% pass completion rate (60 out of 66 attempts).”

The newspaper concluded that Bouaddi’s success reflects Morocco’s smart strategy of attracting top young talent, following in the footsteps of stars like Brahim Díaz. It added that the young genius’s market value is now set to skyrocket well beyond the 50 million euros he was worth before the World Cup.
