Rabat – The General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration announced on Thursday that 1,074 inmates successfully passed the regular 2026 baccalaureate exam in Morocco.
According to the delegation, a total of 2,466 incarcerated candidates took the exams under the category of independent candidates. The success rate among prisoners reached 44%, compared to the national rate of 37.4% for independent candidates. This marks a 147% increase in the number of successful inmates compared to the 2025 session.
A total of 868 inmates, representing 35.2% of all examined prisoners, will sit for the make-up session.
In terms of academic performance, 409 successful candidates obtained distinctions ranging from “fairly good” to “very good,” representing 38.08% of all successful inmates.
The delegation lauded these results and encouraged continued effort and perseverance among inmates. It also urged prison administrations to further improve conditions to support candidates preparing for the resit exams.
The Ministry of Education announced yesterday that 262,442 students passed the 2026 national baccalaureate exam in Morocco, marking a 5% increase compared to last year. The overall pass rate reached 64.8%.
Among successful candidates, female students recorded a higher success rate of 68.7%, compared to 60% for male students. Women also made up 59% of all successful candidates, meaning 154,881 female students passed the exam.
A total of 404,957 students sat for the exams this year, with an attendance rate of 94.9%. Private candidates accounted for 55,556 participants, with a 37.4% pass rate, while candidates with disabilities achieved a notably high success rate of 81.7%.
