Rabat – Moroccan international Brahim Diaz has described the national team’s victory over Scotland as a crucial step toward achieving their goals at this stage of the competition, emphasizing that humility and focus will remain the ultimate keys to success in their World Cup campaign.
Friday’s clash at the Boston Stadium ended in a 1-0 victory for Morocco over Scotland. Ismael Saibari’s early goal — and so far the fastest of the tournament — sealed the game for the Atlas Lions.
Speaking to the press after the match, Diaz warned against looking too far ahead and emphasized the need to stay disciplined.
“We achieved an important step today after reaching this objective, but we must take the tournament game by game; this is the World Cup, and humility and focus are essential.” he said.
The 26-years-old player set up the winning goal with a brilliant pass over the top to Ismael Saibari, catching the Scottish defense off guard to secure the historic 71-second goal.
Looking ahead, Diaz made it clear that the team is determined to keep their momentum going in the next rounds.
“We will continue to play with the same spirit and performance, and this is a good step that brings us closer to reaching the final,” he pledged.
Morocco will look to build on this momentum when they face Haiti in their final Group C match on June 24, at Atlanta Stadium. With the team in a strong position to advance, a victory or a draw will secure the Atlas Lions a spot in the World Cup knockout rounds.
