Rabat – Morocco goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi has expressed the national team’s support for captain Achraf Hakimi ahead of the Atlas Lions’ final World Cup group match against Haiti.
Mohamedi made the comments during today’s pre-match press conference when he was asked about Hakimi’s situation following the latest development in his legal case in France.
“Everyone supports Achraf,” Mohamedi said. “He is our role model in Morocco, so we will always stand behind him in everything.”

A French appeals court recently confirmed that Hakimi must stand trial in connection with a rape allegation dating back to 2023.
The Paris Saint-Germain defender has repeatedly denied the allegation and maintained his innocence. No trial date has yet been announced.
The court’s decision means that the case will proceed to trial and does not represent a conviction.
Hakimi remains with Morocco squad
Hakimi has continued to train and play with Morocco during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The right-back started the Atlas Lions’ opening 1-1 draw against Brazil and also featured in their 1-0 win over Scotland.
Head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has also publicly supported his captain and said the player remains calm and focused on Morocco’s campaign.
Mohamedi’s comments reflected the position of the squad, with the goalkeeper making clear that Hakimi continues to have the backing of his teammates.
The captain is expected to remain an important part of Morocco’s plans as they prepare to face Haiti in their final Group C match.
Mohamedi also spoke about his own role within the national team after being selected as one of Morocco’s three goalkeepers for the tournament.
“I always work to be ready to help the team,” he said. “That is always my objective, whether I am on the pitch, outside it or even in the stands.”
Yassine Bounou has started Morocco’s first two World Cup matches, but Mohamedi said his commitment to the national team does not depend on whether he receives playing time.
“Even if I were not at the World Cup, I would always remain behind the Moroccan national team, wherever I am,” he added. “That is always my goal.”
Morocco prepare for Haiti
Morocco will face Haiti on Wednesday, June 24, with kick-off scheduled for 11 p.m. Moroccan time.
The Atlas Lions have four points after drawing with Brazil and defeating Scotland.
A win against Haiti would secure Morocco’s place in the round of 32 and could also give Ouahbi’s team a chance to finish top of Group C, depending on Brazil’s result against Scotland.
Haiti have already been eliminated following defeats in their opening two matches, but Morocco have insisted they will approach the game with full focus.
