Agadir – King Mohammed VI has sent a congratulatory message to US President Donald Trump on the occasion of the United States’ National Day, marking the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The monarch extended his sincere congratulations to President Trump and the American people, expressing his best wishes on behalf of himself and the Moroccan people as the US commemorates its historic milestone on July 4.
The monarch noted that the anniversary also marks 250 years of enduring relations between Morocco and the United States, recalling that Morocco was the first country to recognize American independence.
King Mohammed VI described the bilateral relationship as “distinguished and unique,” emphasizing its longstanding foundation of friendship, loyalty, and mutual respect.
The King also praised the strength of ties during President Trump’s two terms, saying the relationship has “never been as rich and fruitful.” He specifically recalled Trump’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, describing the decision as historic and one that “will remain etched in the memory of Moroccans from generation to generation.”
The message also welcomed the growing momentum in trade and economic cooperation, with the King noting that bilateral economic relations have reached unprecedented levels. He expressed confidence that Morocco-US ties are entering “their best phase.”
King Mohammed VI further commended the security and military partnership between the two countries, describing it as “a model of excellence” and a key pillar in safeguarding the interests and shared values of both nations.
The monarch pointed to the annual African Lion military exercise, hosted by Morocco in partnership with the United States, as a leading example of the two countries’ close defense cooperation.
Concluding his message, King Mohammed VI reaffirmed Morocco’s unwavering commitment to further strengthening and deepening its strategic partnership with the United States.
