Rabat – Soufiane Rahimi has replaced Ismael Saibari due to a potential injury.
Saibari left the game in less than 30 minutes, as he appeared to be grimacing in pain earlier.
Ismael Saibari has been key in the World Cup tournament and has been delivering masterclasses throughout the first phases of the competition. In the tournament, Saibari scored three goals. One goal came in the 1-1 draw against Brazil, he scored Morocco’s winning goal against Scotland, and scored one of the winning goals in Morocco’s 4-2 victory over Haiti.
He also finished the job during the penalty shootout against the Netherlands, scoring Morocco’s last penalty after Yassine Bounou’s saves.
Morocco has been conducting a stunning campaign in the tournament, marked by teamwork, determination, and resilience throughout. Saibari has been among the players who made headlines. This successful campaign also came amid his signing for Bayern Munich, which he officially joined this week.
Max Eberl, FC Bayern’s board member for sport, commented on the signing of Saibari, expressing his delight at securing the player’s services. He described him as one of the most exciting forwards at the World Cup.
“Transfers like this don’t happen on the spur of the moment but are the result of long-term planning. The key factor was that we made our position clear to him early on because we were aware of Ismael’s skills and were able to show him a clear future with us from the start. Ismael Saibari will bring extra quality and unpredictability to our attacking play,” Eberl said.
Saibari also expressed his excitement about joining Bayern Munich, describing the move as a dream come true and stressing his ambition to compete for the biggest trophies with the German giants.
“As a child, you dream of signing a contract with a club like FC Bayern – everybody knows it’s one of the world’s biggest clubs. FC Bayern compete for the biggest titles like the Champions League every year, and I want to win as many trophies as possible here. FC Bayern’s play suits me, I can play my own style of football here, and I’ll work hard every day to help the team. Coach Vincent Kompany played a key role in my decision – I’m looking forward to working with him,” Saibari said.
