Cope Verde’s Vozinha could join Messi at Inter Miami as the club is reportedly showing interest in the goalkeeper following his fantastic performance in the FIFA World Cup, according to several reports.
Josimar José Évora Dias, also known as Vozinha, is a free agent after leaving Portuguese tier-two side G. D. Chaves this summer.
The goalkeeper won plenty of fans for his performances during the World Cup with Cape Verde.
The 40-year-old was named player of the match after making seven saves in his side’s 0-0 draw against Spain and played a decisive role in the 2-2 draw against Uruguay, allowing two goals but keeping out several others with repeated saves, as well as against Saudi Arabia.
Most recently, in Cape Verde’s dramatic defeat against World Cup giants Argentina, Vozinha was one of the players who shone the brightest during the match.
Vozinha had eight saves, one of which came from an infamous Messi free kick. But Cape Verde fell 3-2 in extra time.
“I went up to Messi after the game. He hugged me and said, ‘You are great. Your people should be proud of you.’ That was incredible for me,” said Vozinha.
The veteran goalkeeper described Messi’s gesture as one of the most special moments of his career. After thanking the Argentine star, Vozinha also asked if they could exchange jerseys.
Despite being old, his popularity allows several clubs to put their eyes on him.
